Faces of Nigeria

Note: In line with this year’s theme, we plan to feature individuals who identify as or with Nigeria as part of our fashion show, symbolizing the “change” that has come. If you would like to, or know anyone who would be interested in modeling in the fashion show or having their fashion designs featured in the show, please fill out the Google Form below, or send an email to Please keep in mind, you do not have to be Nigerian to participate! We look forward to hearing from you!

Beyond the Barrier Fashion Show

Our first annual fashion show, Beyond the Barrier, co-hosted with Fuerza Latina highlighted the unique historical identities of members of the African and Latin American diaspora through fashion.IMG_3374

We recognized the monumental challenges that members of these ethnic groups faced as result of colonialism and the continued perseverance of peoples on the respective continent in the 21st century.

Independence Day Gala 2017 – Her Nigeria

Our Independence Day Gala themed Her Nigeria was a great success! We celebrated the critical role women and girls play in Nigerian society with food, drink, dance and, of course, our wonderful guests.

Our keynote speaker, Ifeoma Fafunwa, an internationally recognized playwright and creator of the popular play Hear Word!, spoke eloquently about the issues the women in Nigerian society continue to face. In honor of our theme, we made donations to a charity focused on women’s’ rights in Nigeria. We had performances from numerous amazing groups including the Kuumba Singers, Omo Naija, MIT’s Sakata Afrique, Boston University’s Afrithms, as well as the wonderful Nayja Williams performing spoken word. We also featured Kelechi Designs and Arome in our integrated fashion show.

Below are a few photos from the event itself:
